I'm sorry but in what world is the topic of menstraution not related to a women's march? Yes there are women who don't menstruate but that doesn't mean that centuries and centuries of misogyny and disgust around vaginal bleeding is completely gone and irrelevant. It is still a sign of filth and corruption in many countries and was the proof of women's "sinful" souls. If people want to highlight topics of menstruation on a women's march I don't see why they should be shunned?

no one said that menstruation isn’t related to a women’s march. the post in question literally said “feminism which marginalizes entire subsets of us for the sake of a catchy slogan isnt good feminism.”

it’s possible to recognize that much of the hatred towards menstruation/vaginas is based in misogyny against women while also recognizing that women aren’t the only ones affected by these things.

the post was targeted towards catchy phrases about reproductive rights that misgender and ignore marginalized people who ALSO need those reproductive rights. I’m a trans guy. I’m affected by these talks, I need contraceptive and abortion access and want to fight against the taboo of menstruation and vaginas. You know what alienates people like me from talks about reproductive rights? calling me a woman/female for the sake of catchy GRRRL POWER slogans.

the topic of menstruation aside, in these womens marches with pussy hats and pussy power signs, they also completely ignore the existence of trans women. again, a lot of misogyny regarding vaginas are directed at cis women, but trans women are also affected by misogyny since they’re women.

I feel like I’m beating a dead horse here but the moral of the story is: you can recognize that the hatred of menstruation/reproductive rights/vaginas/etc is often based in the hatred of women. but making broad generalizations about women for the sake of cute slogans only harms those that don’t fit into those generalizations. the same goes for making generalizations about people that need reproductive rights.

Anyone who wants to be an ally to the disabled and the chronically ill must support the technologies which make their lives better. You cannot support someone with chronic pain while also suggesting that all pain relievers are the work of the devil. You cannot support someone with diabetes while promoting politics that end the availability of insulin.

You cannot claim solidarity with a group of people, while at the same time expressing politics that would literally kill them.
